THE DATE

THE LOCATION

THE DRESS

My dress was from The White Room in Mullingar. It was a sleeveless embroidered lace v-neck dropped waist bodice with silk pleated full skirt with chapel train, with removable ribbon and flower embellishment at waist.

HAIR & MAKEUP

Makeup: Rhona Cullinan from Powder Room Girls– Rhona did the make up for my friends wedding whom I was bridesmaid for. She made everyone look beautiful and I knew I wanted her for my big day.

Hair:  Morgan Richards, Johnstown. My own hairdresser for last 12 years – couldn’t recommend her highly enough. Made my morning very girlie and fun and yet very professional and all hairs styled in plenty of time, including my little flower girls.

laura 9

THE PHOTOGRAPHER

Double Click Photography, super friendly and professional. Jill was at my house morning of the wedding and Aaron at Peter’s so captured both our days fully. Got all the shots I had planned with no fuss and had photos in the post after our honeymoon which kept our wedding buzz going!

THE RECEPTION

Knightsbrook Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort, Trim, Co Meath. We choose this hotel because the hotel itself and grounds are beautiful and they couldn’t do enough for us. Made us feel very special (although they have a lot of weddings!) and Sinead Coll Lonergan, the wedding co-ordinator was on hand for every question and whim I had. They decorated the room exactly how I wanted and the food was amazing, especially dessert which was presented on dry ice!

laura 6

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY

My dad seeing me in my wedding dress for the first time.

Getting a dozen red roses & pink Moet delivered to my house the morning of the wedding by my wonderful fiancé (now husband!)

Saying our vows and everyone clapping when we were officially married!

Seeing Peter’s Grandmother in the Photobooth that evening with a wig on and other props getting her photos taken. Photobooth was such fun for all ages.

All our friends and family being together and having photo’s of them for years to come.

Dancing the night away!

THE HONEYMOON

We went to the Lux Resort in the Maldives a week after the wedding. An amazing resort, paradise!

THE DATE

10th April 2014

THE LOCATION

St. Mary’s Church, Edgeworthstown, Co. Westmeath.

THE DRESS

I had the dress designed and made by Evelyn Campbell Couture. The dress design was based on an illustration of an Armani design worn by Liz Taylor for The Ultimate Gold Collection Fashion show which happened during the Cannes Film Festival.  It was gold, raw silk, ruching on top, full length with full open front detachable outer skirt.

HAIR & MAKEUP

Makeup:  Kelly O’Dowd Hair:  Laila Valentino

lisa fox 3

THE PHOTOGRAPHER

Leanne Keaney.  I would recommend her to anyone. We wanted the pictures to be documentary style, with just a few portraits.  We hardly noticed she was there all day, and yet the photos turned out amazingly well!

THE RECEPTION

Mount Druid, Castletown Geoghegan, Co. Westmeath. We arrived to the summer house and had cocktails and canapes by the lake.  We chose hurricanes because that is a very popular cocktail in New Orleans and a favourite of Seán’s.  There was no particular theme to the wedding, but if we had to describe it, we’d say a mix pot of rustic chic, glamour and New Orleans!  Our reception was in a converted barn that we filled with spring flowers, bunting and straw hearts.  Sweeney Jazz Men played till 10.30 and then we had a trad session/singsong/ceili drawing on all the talents of our various guests.

lisa fox 4

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY

At each new section of the day I stopped and said ‘Seán, this is my favourite moment of the day’.   I guess that’s why you get to have high lights and not just one highlight.  For me, it was the little special moments in the church.  Moments that we had planned, the songs we had picked being sung by our nearest and dearest.  And because we had chosen those songs because they are our favourite love songs, we just kept singing to each other throughout the ceremony. Another highlight was the poem that my sisters and brother wrote for me as part of the speeches.  It was so beautiful and meaningful to me that I found it difficult to contain my emotion.  You know that sort of crying that you try to hold in, but you are in fear of it actually literally bursting out of you in a mini wail!  But then I looked our guests just after the poem finished and not only was there not a dry eye in the house, but I could see there were many other people trying to discreetly control their breathing!

THE HONEYMOON

We went on honeymoon to New Orleans.  We had been there before, and fell in love with the place, the people and of course we were already in love with the music.  We spent a few days at Jazz Fest which was on at the time we were there. We went to many smaller, more intimate gigs and concerts outside of the Festival. We did a bit of sightseeing New Orleans is famous for it’s cuisine, so of course we gained several pounds by indulging in the delicious food.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY

Having our parents there to celebrate with us. Couldn’t recommend the violinist Patricia Treacy enough.  She played right throughout the meal. Guests were swinging their napkins and forming trains around the function room to lively numbers. It was amazing- such fun and so different.  Got everyone going right from the start.

advice for new brides

Relax on the day….Remember you have put so much work into the day it’s so important that you enjoy it.  I think all brides need to chill the week of the wedding.  Keep all contact numbers of all bookings made in a wedding planner diary- It’s definitely a must to be organised.  Knowing that everything is well organised beforehand means you can totally relax on the day.  Also don’t be afraid to accept help from others.  Designate jobs to friends, family- you can’t possibly do it all yourself. My two sisters who were my Bridesmaids were so helpful in the lead up to the wedding.

Marina Dolan , Tom’s sister in-law to be, had a beautiful candle made to remember Tom’s father Seamus by, which we light together at the start of the ceremony.

I forgot my bouquet in the hotel, so my brother Liam Allen kindly sorted that out and got it to me for the photos at the end of the mass!

Walking down the aisle with dad,  catching a glimpse of everyone looking so well, knowing the efforts made and time taken by everyone to be with us and then finally laying eyes on Tom at the top was the best , followed by saying our vows and knowing how lucky we both are was a special moment in the day. The speeches were also good fun. For Tom the highlight was placing the wedding band on Deborah’s finger and kissing his bride at the top of the aisle to great applause and cheering !

Niamh (4)

THE DATE

3rd July 2014

THE LOCATION

Lady Chapel Church, Maynooth. The church we married in was a really small country church very intimate and perfect for our number of guests. We loved it! Our priest Father David Halpin was really great and made us feel so comfortable on the day and also created a lot of laughs. The ceremony was very special and as we couldn’t have all of our friends as bridesmaids and groomsmen we included as much of our friends as possible in the ceremony which was lovely.

Niamh (5)

THE DRESS

My dress was from an Israeli designer called Inbal Dror. It was one of the first dresses I seen online and I knew I wanted it but at that time no one in Ireland stocked them so I planned a day trip to London to try it on and fell in love with it. There was no going back to any other dresses. I had tried on a lot of dresses but none of them had the wow that this dress had. I was lucky that De Stafford Couture in Howth stocked the dress in a couple of weeks later so I was able to purchase it from there. Kathy De Stafford really looked after me and made my experience really special.

It was a strapless couture mermaid style dress with a nude bodice at the back. It was perfect for me. The dress was made to measure so it was made for my measurements and fit me perfectly.

The Reception Neasa de baroid stood up at the table she was seated at as one of our guests and went into 30 minutes of  opera and show songs, it was incredulous, she got up other great singers to sing along to songs while wandering about tables, it was a million dollars. Bride Caroline recalls highlights from her wedding with husband David Hamblyn.

THE DATE

14th June 2014

THE LOCATION

St. Mochonogue’s Church, Kilmacanogue, Co. Wicklow. As I grew up in the beautiful village of Kilmacanogue it was such an honour to walk up the same aisle that my parents did some thirty five years ago and felt very priviliged in keeping with tradition. From the moment I stepped into the church on the arm of my father, Eddie Fisher, the look of pride in his eyes, the feeling of joy and love in my heart and the excitement of seeing David at the top of the aisle patiently awaiting my arrival is a feeling I will remember for the rest of my life.

photo-210

THE DRESS

The dress was a Paloma Blanca which I purchased in Eden Manor Bridal, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. It was an off white, pure silk A line dress with lace on the top and back part of the dress. There were swarovski crystals through the lace which flickered beautifully in the sunlight. There was a silk band around the waistline and silk buttons at the the back of the dress. The pure silk skirt fell around in a semi circle shape on the floor behind.

HAIR & MAKEUP

Makeup: Making Faces, Gorey, Co. Wexford. Apryl was just fantastic. As a previous client of Apryl’s, I knew her work and was confident that she was the right person for the job. I cannot recommend Making Faces make up studio enough. We were all delighted with our make up.
Hair: Tanya Murray. Just like Apryl above, I was familiar with Tanya’s creativity and she knew exactly what I was looking for. A true professional.

THE RECEPTION

Seafield Golf & Spa Hotel, Ballymoney, Co. Wexford. Such a beautiful, unique wedding venue. The hotel facilitated our every need, we had my grandparents old tea sets on the top table which made them apart of our special day as they are no loner with us. We remembered David’s father, David Hamblyn, with a beautiful remembrance candle lighting at all times. It was a completely magical reception with award winning food and great staff.

1

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY

Highlight for me was getting to David at the top of the aisle and seeing his face. Other highlights would be having both my parents, Eddie and Mary Fisher, by my side and I remember looking at them and seeing how proud they looked which made me feel very blessed. I also remember catching the eye of my mother-in-law, Ann Hamblyn, as I walked down the aisle and her look of happiness and pride also remains in my heart.

10

THE HONEYMOON

We went on a trip of the West Coast of the United States. We started off in San Fancisco and drove west as far as San Diego taking in so many cities and towns along the way finishing it off in Las Vegas. All in all it was a 3 week trip of a lifetime.

Each guest had a wedding favour of a set of Hollywood coasters with a personal hand written message from the David and Lourdes attached. This took us the longest to do but it was well worth it in the end as people couldn’t believe we wrote to each of them individually.

THE HONEYMOON

We went to Secrets The Vine in Cancun for two weeks. The hotel was absolutely fabulous and left you wanting nothing, the service was second to none. We had dinner on the beach one night, one of the most romantic nights of our lives. When we returned from Cancun we headed to Ibiza Spain and partied on for another week. A lot different to Cancun, but great fun.

Best for Bubbles

Freixenet Cava

For the ideal sparkling reception, Freixenet Cava from Barcelona ticks all the boxes. Freixenet is produced in the same way as Champagne, for example with each bottle being fermented individually, meaning a quality and depth of flavour that you simply won’t find in any Prosecco. And though you get Champagne quality, you won’t pay Champagne prices, saving some vital pennies on the day. So give your reception the treatment it deserves by serving Freixenet Cava – you and your guests won’t regret it! www.findlaterws.ie

Shloer

Having a glass of bubbles needn’t feel naughty this summer because sparkling juice drink favourite Shloer also has two delicious ‘no added sugar’ flavours in its range of alcohol alternatives. Available in White Grape and Red Grape, Shloer Light uses stevia leaf extract, so you can enjoy your favourite soft drink with half the calories. www.shloer.com
